preowned book from the 40s. compiles “the Virginia breeder” later became “the Eastern Breeder” magazines Vol II 7-12 from 1940-1941, magazine looks like it was based out of Warrenton Virginia, the home of the gold cup races. book was bound by Edward F Gruver Co. some separating from binding. really cool item. please see all pictures for details.
Pages are clean and tight. Binding is strong. Cover shows very little wear. Book is in very good condition for its age. No dust jacket. There is an inscription inside the front cover dated 1940. Great addition to anyone’s antique book collection.
NAVAJO OMENS AND TABOOS. Author Franc Johnson Newcomb (1887-1970) inscribed the book which is No. 194 off a limited series. Some of her reproductions (from memory) of Navajo sand paintings are in the Wheelwright Museum of the American Indian in Santa Fé, New Mexico. This 11” x 8” hardcover book is illustrated with black/white photos and one two-page color reproduction of a Navajo sand painting. The hardcover has a bumped corner. The dust jacket is in poor condition and is torn and mended with tape. It is enclosed in a Mylar protective cover. A former owner’s library plate is attached to the first blank page. USPS Media Mail.
